- Special Rules
’Players’ should be aware of the rules of the ‘Games’ affecting the ‘Market’ on which they wish to place a bet. The market is defined as a single game, multiple games or group game series as specified on any of the (Operator’s) communication channel, represented in its principal form by the Company website.
Any customer who has any concerns or questions regarding the Rules of the Game or regarding a settlement of any of the ‘Operator’ market should contact the ‘Company’ via the means of communication available, including E-mail, Helpdesk and Chat Messaging. We will do our best endeavour to respond to queries of this nature within a few days and will respect all such queries within a maximum time limit of 3 days. Players who have not resolved satisfactorily the disputes with us may refer their grievance to an Independent Betting Adjudication Service that we may recognise from time to time. We reserve the right to take appropriate action as we deem proper.
The Games are of a casual nature but include a bet where registered players (player with an active ‘Account’ thereafter referred to as Player) can select to place a casual wager prior to the kick-off of the market. The proceeds of the market are equivalent to the sum of the players’ wagers less an administrative fee levied by the ‘Operator’ to administer and operate the game. The amount of the administrative fee is dependent on the respective markets and can be found in the schedule of Administrative fees of these terms and conditions.
Upon placing the predetermined wager the player accepts to receive, via the preferred ’Channels’, a list of contextual questions relevant to that particular market. The ‘Player’ is given a specific amount of time to respond to each question. Valid responses (response received within the stipulated time limit assigned by the ‘Operator’) are then processed and correct answers are assigned points. In the standard market each question has a predetermined amount of ranking points allocated to it. The market is won by those players that accumulate the most amounts of points for that respective market. In the event that the market is won by multiple‘Winners’ the ‘Jackpot’ is split amongst the ‘Winners’ of that specific ‘Market’.
We also provide ‘Players to create their own ‘Markets’ by creating groups. In this version of the game, a ‘Game Leader’ creates a group with no less than 2 members, assigns the minimum bet to be played and selects the game/s that are available to create the ‘Market’. Depending on the market configuration, we will assign an administrative fee. The winner/s of the group will win the Jackpot of the group which is made up of the total proceeds accumulated from the group less the administrative fee as stipulated in these terms and conditions.
We aim to use our reasonable endeavours to operate such markets that are ‘in-play’ at kick-off and to suspend such markets on the occurrence of a Material Event. We will provide our members with clear market information related to the scheduled events that are chosen. The ‘Market’ information will include, the kick-off time of the event, the relevant teams participating in the event and some pre-game statistics to enhance the gaming experience of our ‘Players’. All ‘Players who have placed a ‘Bet’ in a particular market will receive a pre-game notification message over their preferred communication channel 15 minutes prior to scheduled kick-off. Players are also notified if the answers to their questions have been validated and at the end of the game will also be notified of the outcome of the ‘Market’. We do not allow any bets after the predetermined game deadline which is set at 5 minutes before scheduled kick-off. Should ’Players’ register to play the game after the pre-notification game message they will receive an automated message other than the pre-notification message.
If a market needs to be suspended for reasons beyond the control of the ‘Operator’ after the scheduled kick-off time then the ‘Operator’ will transfer back the monies into the players’ ‘Account’s and consider the game as void. If the suspended game was part of a ‘Market’ within multiple game series, then this game will be eliminated from the series but the series will still continue to be played. If the suspended game was part of a group game play within a multiple series group game, then this game will be eliminated from the series but the series will continue to be played.
In the event that more than 1 game within a series of games is suspended for reasons beyond the control of the ‘Operator’ after the scheduled kick-off time then the ‘Operator’ will void the series and will transfer back the monies into the players’ account.
The Operator reserves the right to alter a game from a multiple game series if it is known prior to the scheduled kick-off time of a chosen game within a multiple game series that a particular game has to be cancelled. This occurrence is normally due to inclement weather which may induce the sport association to suspend games.
In the event that a ‘Material Event’ occurs within the same time that a question is posted to players, we reserve the right to eliminate that question from the list of questions within a market. Therefore if the ‘Operator’ allows players 2 minutes to answer a question related to whether a particular team would score a goal within a stipulated time frame, and a goal is scored within that time frame, the ‘Operator’ reserves the right to submit a supplementary question for the purposes of that game. Ranking points for supplementary questions are added to the total and the points derived from the other question are voided.
The ‘Operator’ is the sole entity responsible of assigning results to its ‘Market’. The ‘Market’ results are announced via the ‘Channels’ no later than 48 hours of the end of Market. The formula used to assign ‘Winners’ may be changed by the ‘Operator’ at its own discretion but cannot be altered in the course of an active market.
Assignment of Points
The first version of the ‘Game’ is PlayJackpotFootball and covers football games from various governing bodies. The ‘Operator’ selects a number of games and allows ‘Players’ to select these ‘Games’ either as a single game or as a multiple game series. The principles governing single v multiple game series are identical but the assignment of points is different.
Single Game Markets
A single game ‘Market’ is defined as a single football game with a predetermined set of teams and a scheduled kick-off time. Throughout the game we will transmit a number of contextual live questions with a time stamp and request the answer to these contextual live questions within a stipulated time frame. Questions are validated in real time and thereafter assigned points as per the published Rules of the Game. Supplementary questions replacing the standard questions are allocated the same amount of points of those questions they are replacing.
Multiple Game Series
A multiple game ‘Market’ is defined as a predetermined set of single football games grouped together to form a market. Each game has a set of predetermined set of teams and a scheduled kick-off time. Throughout the games within the group we will transmit a number of contextual live questions with a time stamp and request the answer to these contextual live questions within a stipulated time frame. A standard multiple game series includes a 3 single game series. The ‘Operator’ reserves the right to structure game series with multiple games as it deems fit and will always clearly state the rules of ‘Player’ engagement before a ‘Player’ is asked to submit a bet. Questions are validated in real time and thereafter assigned points as per the published Rules of the Game. Supplementary questions replacing the standard questions are allocated the same amount of points of those questions they are replacing.
Markets are settled once the results are made official by the ‘Operator’ The results of the ‘Market’ will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment. If there is no official result from a governing body then we will determine the result and in so doing act reasonably and fairly. We may decide to reinstate the ‘Market’ with a supplementary ‘Market’ or cancel the results and transfer the funds to the ‘Player Account’.
In the unlikely event of any uncertainty about any result due to an uncertain outcome of a particular answer to a question or number of questions and in such extraordinary cases only the ‘Operator’ may decide to award the results on a sub-set of questions of a game whose outcome is not uncertain. Therefore in the event that 3 questions were asked and the outcome of 1 of the3 questions was uncertain even at the end of the ‘Market’, then the ‘Operator’ and only the ‘Operator’ may decide to award the results of the ‘Market’ according to the correct answers of the other 2 questions.
If a market is settled in error due to for example a human error or a technical error, the ‘Operator’ may decide to re-settle the ‘Market’ accordingly. If we decide to resettle the market due to such an error, this may lead to amendments being made to a ‘Player Account’ balance to reflect changes in Market’ settlement.
In certain circumstances the outcome of the ‘Market’ is directly dependent on the participation of a particular ‘Competitor’. ‘Competitors’ (e.g. football players pertaining to a particular team) are deemed to have participated if they were in action at the time when the ‘Operator’ issues the relevant question related to that particular ’Competitor’. Should the ’Competitor’, a few seconds after the issuance of a question quits from playing in the ‘Market’ due to an injury, suspension or substitution, the ‘Competitor’ would have been deemed to have participated and is classified as such.
Game Closure
In the event that the ‘Market’ is not completed within 2 days from the scheduled closure then the ‘Market’ will be considered as null and void. Football games may be abandoned for disciplinary reasons, in which case the result of that particular ‘Market’ will be confirmed. In an event of an abandoned game where only a subset number of questions have been posted by the ‘Operator’, then the ranks assigned according to the posted questions will determine the results of the market. In ‘case Markets’ are abandoned due to inclement weather, then should the ‘Markets’ resume before the stipulated deadline, the ‘Markets’ are continued in their ‘normal course. Most governing bodies stipulate that abandoned football games are restarted from the very beginning. In the event that a ‘Market’ is restarted all previous ‘questions posted by the ‘Operator’ and the points accumulated from their respective answers are deleted and the ‘Market’‘starts afresh. If for whatever reason the ‘Market’ is completed from the time it was abandoned then the previous points assigned will stand and the remaining questions only are posted.
If a ‘Market’ is cancelled and is part of a multiple game series, the points of this ‘Market’ are only assigned at the discretion of the ‘Operator’. We will assign points to the multiple game series only if the ‘Market’ has been postponed due to inclement weather and the ‘Market’ is rescheduled for a rematch after the stipulated time. In many instances due to crowding of football game calendars, postponed or cancelled ‘Markets’ are replayed weeks or months after. In such cases the results of the partial score are assigned and added up to the multiple game series. The same applies if the abandoned ‘Market’ is part of a group series.
The ‘Game’ is a casual betting game. To retain its status as a betting game we have set limits for betting in our ‘Game’. We do reserve the right to alter the ‘Game Bets’ and to include other forms of ‘Bets’ and in so doing will inform the ‘Players’ about such changes. The game system itself will ensure that the ‘Player’ understands the mechanism used to place a ‘Bet’ with the ‘Operator’, is asked to confirm the intent before a ‘Bet’ becomes active. Once a ‘Bet’ becomes active it cannot be retracted and will be included in the ‘Jackpot’.
The ‘Operator’ does not allow ‘Players’ to increase the maximum ‘Bet’ limits on any game type and also sets limitations of betting in group structured game types. The following table describes the different match betting permutations available on the ‘Games’.
Minimum and Maximum Bet Thresholds and PJS Charge Scheme
| Game Type | Fixed Bet | PJS Charge | Jackpot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Game | €5 | €1.00 | €4.00 |
| Multiple Game Series | €12 | €2.40 | €8.50 |
| Game Type | Min Bet | Max Bet | PJS Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group Series | €5 | €50 | 20% |
Hot Games
In some instances, we may provide what are called HOT GAMES to our registered ‘Players’ by offering them single and multiple games with a minimum fixed guaranteed payout. These games will be clearly marked on the company website. The ‘Operator’ reserves the right to set arbitrary minimum pay-out depending on the ‘Market’. As a casual betting game operator however, we will ensure that the minimum threshold is held to a reasonable amount thus avoiding excessive gambling. The minimum threshold for a single game series will not exceed €1,000 and that for a multiple game series will not exceed €2,500.
Game Access
The ‘Operator’ understands that different ‘Players’ may want to access the markets and play the ‘Games’ using a number of different media ‘Channels’. To this end we have created a communication platform that supports the following ‘Channels’:
Online
The ‘Operator’ web portal www.playjackpot.net is the main media channel used to provide information and game access to the registered ’Players’. Through the website ‘Players’ can select the ‘Market’ they want to participate in and receive and answer the questions accordingly. The website allows ‘Players’ to interact with the game system either via E-Mail, as a pop-up on the web-portal itself or through the social network sites. There are no additional costs associated with playing the ‘Game’ via the online channel.
Short Messaging Service (SMS)
We acknowledge that not all mobile phone users may have a compatible phone to download the mobile client. Moreover, many players will find SMS as a more user-friendly channel to interact with the game system. In light of this, we have also created a communication module within the game system to support SMS-based communication, where game notifications, questions and answers are exchanged via SMS. Apart from the costs associated with outbound SMS which are duly charged by mobile operators according to their respective charges, players opting to play the game via the SMS channel incur an additional cost of €0.25 per single game series and €0.75 per multiple game series. Should the Player register to play a Single game which is also part of the multiple game series the SMS charge would be €0.25 for the Single Game and €0.75 for the Multiple Game series.
Preferred Communication Channels
‘Players’ can choose their preferred ‘Channels' during game registration. All players will be prompted to choose their ‘preferred channels’ and will receive instructions related to ’Channels’ of choice. ‘Players’ can choose to alter, i.e. to add or delete preferred ‘Channels’ at will from their My ‘Account’ section. ‘Players’ can alsochoose multiple ‘Channels’. All those players choosing the SMS channel are asked to confirm their choice and are informed of the additional charge to be incurred depending on the game type they have chosen. Players are asked to reconfirm the SMS channel prior to any game they play.
To avoid circumstances that may lead to disputes and to provide Players’ with the fairest game play opportunities we have included a number of additional provisions including.
Time Zone
All references to time periods relate to the time zone in which the ‘Market’ takes place. Therefore if a ‘Market’ is being played in the Malta, the reference time zone indicated as kick-off will be CEST.
Integrity of Information
All information supplied by the ‘Operator’ is done so in good faith and we cannot accept liability for any errors or omissions in respect to any information, such as the posting of prices, competitors, times, scores, results or general statistics. If an incorrect team or competitor name is displayed (excluding minor spelling mistakes) or the incorrect number of teams, competitors or outcomes is displayed in any complete ‘Market’ or a ‘Market’ is otherwise loaded using incorrect or includes any obvious error, then we reserve the right to suspend the ‘Market’ and (providing it acts reasonably) to void all bets matched on the ‘Market’.
‘Player’ participation
‘Players’ are responsible for ensuring that they satisfy themselves that the selection on which they place a ‘Bet’ is their intended selection. In this respect it is important that the ‘Player’ confirms that the game type and game series chosen is that as intended.
Game Integrity
In the interest of ‘Game’ integrity we may decide at our sole and absolute discretion to suspend betting on a ‘Market’ earlier than is stipulated by our ‘Game’ rules. We also reserve the right to amend the rules of the ‘Game’ at any time. Any such revision will be binding and effective immediately on the posting of such a change in rules on www.playjackpot.net.
Final Settlements
Any amounts related to winnings/losses on ‘Bets’ will be rounded to the nearest two (2) decimal places. For example if the amount is €5.5555 the settlement amount will be €5.56.
We understand that different sports disciplines may require us to make special provisions and rules of engagement. For the time being the rules govern the first sport discipline that the game system supports, namely football. In the next section the special provisions related to football are described. We will add specific rules related to different sports disciplines once these are added to the game system.
Specific Rules – Football
Game Kick-Off
If a ‘Market’ has not started by 23:59 (local time) on its scheduled start date and the ‘Market’ has been rescheduled to be played after 5 days of its original start date, then all Bets will be voided.
Game Abandoned
If a ‘Market’ starts but is later abandoned or postponed and is not completed, such that the duration of the game is less than that anticipated by the rules of the governing body (45 minutes x 2 + Extra time) and (45 minutes X 2 + Extra time + 15 minutes x 2 + Extra time); and is not rescheduled to be played after 5 days of its original start date, then all ‘Bets’ will be voided. If the game is completed within 5 days of the original schedule then all bets will stand. If the ‘Market’ is restarted from the exact same time that the football game was postponed (i.e. ‘Market’ was abandoned due to inclement weather on the 33rd minute and the game officials will re-start the game from the 33rd minute, then all bets and answers submitted will stand). If a ‘Market’ is restarted from the first minute irrespective of when it was abandoned then all submitted answers will be voided.
Goal Scorer Bets
If the ‘Operator’ includes a goal scorer question in a respective Market and the goal scorer is not participating in that ‘Market’ then the question will be voided and the points for that question will not be assigned. The points from the other questions will determine the ‘Winner’.
First Goal Bets
Own goals are also considered as first goals and will be assigned to the team that has benefited from an own goal.
Time Sensitive Bets
For ‘time sensitive bets’, the first half is deemed to last 45 minutes, regardless of extra time, the second half is deemed to last an additional 45 minutes, irrespective of extra time and wherever applicable extra time is deemed to last 15 minutes in the first half of extra time plus stoppage time and an additional 15 minutes in the second half of extra time plus stoppage time.
Incident Sensitive Bets
For questions related to a particular number of incidents such as Corners, Fouls in favour, Fouls Against, Offside Infringements, Yellow Cards, Red Cards, Number of correct passes, Number of Incorrect passes and other similar incidents, we will use the statistical information supplied by the governing body of the respective league. If changes occur in official statistics that alter the ranking position of the game then this will be taken into account prior to settlement of bets. We may decide to void markets if changes to incidents alter drastically the outcome of a particular ‘Market’.
